An experienced roofer and roof restoration specialist, Stewart Rowles has worked in the heritage roofing sector for over 25 years. He has worked on many prestigious buildings and projects, specialising in ornate leadwork and heritage slating and tiling, among other traditional skills. Stewart is also managing director at Master Roofers UK (MRUK), an online community of over 60,000 roofers and industry personnel.
Another initiative under the MRUK banner includes the Master Roofers Training Academy where Stewart and other tutors teach roofing skills to 100s of students each year. These and many other projects can be found at www.masterroofers.co.uk
Stewart is also the Managing Director of the Association of Master Roofers which is a trade association for contractor members who excel in specialist areas of roofing. The Association works with many other organisations in the UK who seek to retain heritage skills.
Even though Stewart is still carrying out roofing projects throughout the country, he is now heavily focused on raising the profile of roofers and roofing-based education in the UK. He writes roofing related articles for construction-based publications. Stewart also acts as technical consultant for many industry manufacturers and also carries out surveying and roof condition reports for many high profile projects within the heritage sector.
Stewart is also a member of the Institute of Historic building conservation (IHBC), is a Heritage Conservation Community member (HCC) and also is recognised in conjunction with Master Roofers UK as a member of the Heritage Crafts UK organisation among many other construction based accreditations.
